PAPER I: COMPUTER ORGANIZATION
TIME : 2 Hours Max.Marks : 20
Note : Attempt all the questions.
1. (a) Use algebric manipulation to convert the following equation to SOP form.
F=a.(b+c).(d)' +a.c'.(b+d)
(b) Write the truth table for F=(ab)' +a.c' +b.c
(c) Convert (A1B.5)12 →(?)8
(d) Simplify F(A,B,C,D)=Σ(0,2,4,6,8,10,12,13,14)
2. Minimize the following using VEM technique taking D as MEV and then realize the circuit using a 8 to 1 MUX : F= Σ(1,3,4,6,7,8,9,11,12,13,15)
3. Explain the differences between the following :
(a) CPU and Microprocessor
(b) Cache Memory and Primary memory
(c) I/O mapped I/O & Memory mapped I/O
4. (a) Realize a SR Flip-Flop, using NOR gates only. Write its excitation table, derive its characteristic equation and draw its state diagram.
(b) Explain how it can be converted into JK Flip-Flop.
5. (a) Explain the significance of the size of different busses of a microprocessor.
(b) With the help of a neat bus structured diagram, explain the working of a microprocessor.
