1 (a) Construct context level diagram and level-1 DFD for a payroll system in hypothetical organization which has two types of employees-salaried and daily wages. Salary can be paid through the cheque only after tax deduction, if any. Employees of the organization are paid extra for their overtime duties. You can make the assumptions to complete the task. Clearly mention the assumptions made.
(b)Distinguish between Validation & Verification.

2 (a)What is process modeling? What are the typical tools used for process modeling?
(b)Define the term 'Coupling' and 'Cohesion'. List the various types of cohesion? Explain any two of them in brief.

3 (a)What is system development life cycle(SDLC)? How does it relate to the system analysis? Explain.
(b)What is the difference between system analysis and system design? Explain your answer with suitable examples.

4 (a)Differentiate between the open and closed systems with suitable examples.
(b) What are the information gathering tools available for the system analyst? List and explain any one of them in brief.

5 (a)Discuss the concept of MIS and DSS. How are they related? Explain.
(b)What is a form? What is a report? Provide two examples of each.

6 (a)What is maintenance? Identify four types of maintinance and explain each in brief.
(b)Differentiate between Data and Information. List and explain the primary external sources of information.

7 (a)What is Feasibility Study? What decision, if any, is taken on the basis of Feasibility report? Explain.
(b)What is meant by template-based document? Explain.

8. Write short notes on any two of the following :
(i) Formal Vs. Informal Systems
(ii) Data Dictionary
(iii) Software selection criteria
(iv) Top down design approach
